Narrator: Serge Bromberg.Technology and infinite persistence from the alchemist's stone that turns celluloid dross into film gold in "The Amazing Voyage," Serge Bromberg's and Eric Lange's tale of upkeep miracle. The 12-year restoration from the color version of George Melies' seminal 1902 masterpiece "A vacation to the Moon" involved extended, slow, tedious processes, but Bromberg's docu, liberally spread with fanciful excerpts from Melies' which makes it through works, never bogs reduced scientific detail as bits get put together again that's been enhanced, frame by frame, fragment by fragment. Skedded to tour worldwide together while using gorgeous new "Moon," this docu comprises a worthy satellite for your primary attraction. Even though it tales the transference of images in great detail, the docu's finest impact is dependant on the fantastical energy in the hands-colored imagery itself as well as the passion of people dedicated to its phoenix-like resuscitation. Speaking-mind duties are assumed by Melies-philes Jean-Pierre Jeunet, Michel Gondry, Michel Hazanavicius and, remarkably, Costa-Gavras. Co-helmer Eric Lange, turning up as you're watching camera, emerges since the print's obsessed, monomaniacal deliverer, conditioning and unspooling badly decomposed silver-nitrate stock in minuscule batches. But fittingly, it's Melies themselves, the unequalled impresario, who steals the show.Camera (color, HD), Jean-Louis Sonzogni editor, Janice Manley music, Bruno Alexiu.
