'Straw Dogs' bark again
James Marsden, Kate Bosworth and Rod Lurie attend Cinema Society screening of Screen Gems pic.
According to Rod Lurie, his new "Straw Dogs" is not Sam Peckinpah's 1971 "Straw Dogs."At the Sept. 15 screening and afterparty at the Tribeca Grand Hotel in Gotham, Lurie quoted a vintage Playboy interview with Peckinpah regarding the pic's infamous rape scene in which the helmer said, "Obviously, she's asking for it."Lurie responded, "I'm not buying into that whatsoever. I believe Sam Peckinpah is one of the greatest filmmakers of all time, and I hold him in high regard. We simply share a different philosophy on human beings."Pic's James Marsden recalled meeting Dustin Hoffman, star of the 1971 original, at an Oscar party. He was scared to speak to him. "I'm the only person in the world who thinks that Dustin Hoffman might want to kick his ass for remaking this movie," Marsden said. "See! I was perfect for the role."Watch Transformers 3 Movie Online
